Alan Raw (willing to teach students in their own homes/mobile)

Alan's been playing the drums since he was a little lad in his Dad's Irish folk band. Starting on Bodhran, he saved up for his first kit by playing at Irish centres and festival. "I come from a long line of musicians. My great Grandfather was a drum maker and received silver drum sticks from the royal family for his service as a military drummer, leading the troops in two wars." He later started a fine band in Limerick. (see pictures >>)

Alan has been a session drummer and multi-instrumentalist for many years and has played with lots of bands. Highlights include: playing Glastonbury, European tours, playing Djembe with a band in West Africa, making a dub album with Benjamin Zephaniah, being profiled in Geoff Nichollls (Rhythm Magazine & Making Music) drumming book" Banging On", having BBC Radio 1 air play and getting the late great John Peel dancing.
